A groundwater well
Wells are used to tap into our groundwater supply. They're mainly operated in summer to meet water demands during periods of peak usage, but also are available for emergencies.
Wells can pump anywhere between 400 and 4,000 gallons of water per minute. All of our 76 wells combined can produce nearly 175 million gallons of water per day.
During winter months, we recharge 22 wells with treated Colorado River water. This artificial recharge gives nature a helping hand in maintaining our groundwater supply.
