Las Vegas Valley Water District

GPS Position Information

GPS Position Information

The LVVWD has established permanent
base stations in the valley.

The positions of Las Vegas Valley Water District (LVVWD) base station antennas were established using static GPS post-processing techniques, with the final positions supplied by NGS. The RTK positional antenna data transmitted is referenced by the ARP (Antenna Reference Point), along with absolute antenna file information, retrieved from NGS antenna file information available from their Web site.

File Availability and Roll-Over

The Water District stores files for all LVVWD base station sites. It is available at a 5-second epoch rate, stored as a 24-hour file in a zipped Rinex (Receiver Information Network Exchange) data format, beginning and ending at 0:00 and 24:00 GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) respectively. The 24-hour roll-over is at GMT and is compatible with PDT (Pacific Daylight Savings Time) or PSD (Pacific Standard Time) by subtracting 7 or 8 hours respectively. This equates to local roll-over at 4 p.m. PST or 5 p.m. PDT. The standard for this file type is: (xxxxyyy0.zip), where xxxx = site name, yyy = julian day and 0 = 24-hour file name.

Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) Data Link

The current Water District radio transmission frequencies, pursuant to FCC licenses, FRN 0001585561, expire 06-16-2015 and FRN 0001588623, expire 05-25-2017 as follows:

NVBM 465.375 mhz NVPO 460.425 mhz
NVTP 460.375 mhz NVSV 460.350 mhz
NVLM 465.100 mhz NVLA 460.300 mhz
CCWR 465.825 mhz CLV1 460.475 mhz
NVCA 465.300 mhz NVPI 465.425 mhz

LVVWD currently provides an RTK data-link at the frequencies listed above. The code formats are "CMR." The over-the-air measurement record is analog using Trimble Trimmark 3 radios, modulated to Trimble Trimtalk 450S radio encryption. The current protocol, settings are, 8-bit coding, odd parity and one stop bit (8-odd-1), running at a 9600 bit-per-second baud rate.

The Water District also provides an RTK data-link via the internet at IP address 205.159.85.60.For GPS users using NTRIP or TCP/IP connections, the Water District provides the following real-time products:

RT Product Name Solution
RTCM 18 & 19 (v 2.x) Single baseline
Leica (Leica proprietary) Single baseline
CMR (Trimble proprietary) Single baseline
Automax Network
IMax Trimble Network

Above products are available using NTRIP Caster, at connection port 9899, with NTRIP Mount Point named same as the site name. i.e. NVBM Single Baseline at NTRIP Mount Point nvbm.

Note: To obtain access via the internet using NTRIP, prospective users must contact the District Surveyor at (702) 258-7163 to establish an account with a unique user name and password.
